Play-School At The Tree House

Don’t let the word play, mislead you into thinking there are not big things happening here.

At The Tree House we believe that children learn best through play.

We’ve filled our environment with ample opportunities for purposeful and meaningful play. From our Pickler Triangle to our sand table. Your child will experience many different materials and vessels to which their creativity and imagination can blossom.

With small class sizes we are able to give each child the attention and support that they deserve. We understand each child is different and love having the ability to connect with each child in their preferred way.

Some of the best benefits of attending Play-School at The Tree House involve your child developing social skills and emotional skills. Developing self confidence, practicing patience, helping others and participating as part of a group are great examples. We encourage curiosity and imagination. Exploration and wonder are some of the many sacred things about childhood.

Our curriculum was created by a former kindergarten teacher and math and reading curriculum specialist. Play-School will focus on experience and exposure. It’s about building background knowledge for your child so when he or she enters school and the teachers say, “Today we will be measuring things,” your child can unlock prior knowledge and feel confident in class.                                      “I know what measuring is – I did that all the time at Play-School!”

Our program values the individual development of children and shows honor to the work they are capable of, while never pushing them in ways they’re not ready for.

Here are just some of the educational skills your child will be engaged in:

Sorting

Predicting

Alphabet Knowledge

Recall and Retell

Shapes

Measurement

Number Sense

School Skills (exposure to cutting, gluing, folding, and tracing)

Play-School is full of science, fine motor skill, gross motor skill, art, and sensory based activities too!

This is a vibrant, hands-on curriculum. Your child will be active, moving, and engaged as they learn and explore the world around them.Traditional worksheets will be minimal, if any.

We want to teach the “whole child” and honor the fact that children learn in various ways. By exploring topics through different subjects and activities, our children will thrive and learn even more.

Class will be guided by early childhood education advocate Mrs. Michelle Waters, Michelle brings her love of children, and learning to bring life to Play-School. Each class will have an assistant guide as well. Maximum class size will be 14 children for 3&4’s and 10 for 2’s. For the Majority of activities children will be paired in two groups and brought back together for things like circle time etc.

We will also have planned family field trips that we hope all of our Play-School families will join us for!

COVID GUIDANCE: The Tree House takes the health and safety of our children very seriously. We have already increased our disinfecting, and cleaning routines. We use only seventh generation disinfectants to ensure that not only germs are at bay but your children are not exposed to harsh chemicals. We utilize a yuck bucket in the studio for any object that goes in or near a child’s mouth, so that it may be disinfected before it goes into another child’s hands. Children will sanitize their hands before entering the studio and at each transition. Hands will be sanitized or washed before and after snack time as well. Guides will be wearing face shields at all times. Tables will be fitted with Plexiglas barriers so that children can still see their friends, but be provided with safety against germs. We will do our very best to keep socially distant standards between children. Please note that there is a possibility children may need face coverings for certain situations when we are unable to maintain socially distant conditions. We anticipate these situations to be very minimal and are waiting from the state for more direction on this, including age limitations. If your child is medically unable to wear a face covering please provide our staff with a note to keep on file. Each student will need to submit immunization records and have a health form on file.
